Whenever you begin holding future community recycling days will you accept cosmetics / health and beauty aids as hazardous waste? Or is there another safe way to dispose of them? Items I have are perfumes, nail polish, hand lotions.
Hello, the items you describe are not considered hazardous waste and can be safely disposed of in your trash. However, if you feel very strongly about not throwing it in the trash and the make is in decent condition still, you might want to consider donating it to women’s shelter. Sometimes they will accept these items. Call them first to see what they would be willing to accept. I hope that helps!
We will not be having any Buehlers collections this year. We are currently trying to work with Wayne County to establish a permanent hazardous waste collection in or around Wooster. Stay tuned! However, if your cans are empty, you can throw them away. If they are latex, you can dry them out by adding kitty litter, sand, or newspaper to them. Allow them to dry out and throw them in your garbage. Kitty litter works best. If they are oil-based, you can save them for a future collection or bring them to our canton recycle center (Tuesday 12-6pm or Friday 9-3pm). If you are unsure about what you have. look on the back and find the cleanup section. Latex requires water and soap; oil-based requires paint thinner or mineral spirits. Hope this helps!
